Hello! My name is Brittany Schreiber, and I am your school psychologist. I am so excited to be part of the school community and to work with students, families, and staff to help support the well-being and success of every student.
A Little About Me:
I am a passionate and dedicated school psychologist with over four years of experience supporting students’ social, emotional, academic, and behavioral development. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
I hold an MSED in School Psychology from Long Island University and am currently pursuing a PsyD in School-Community Psychology at Hofstra University. I am also a certified 200-hour yoga teacher and enjoy using evidence-based mindfulness practices to help students build resilience and emotional regulation skills.
My Role at the School:
As your school psychologist, my job is to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to create the best environment for your child’s growth. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Conducting psychological evaluations and assessments.
- Writing reports and providing recommendations for student support.
- Attending and presenting at meetings such as CSE/504 meetings to ensure students receive the services they need.
- Offering individual and group counseling to students to support their emotional well-being.
- Developing and monitoring Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students who need additional support.
- Leading restorative circles to promote healthy communication and conflict resolution.
- Responding to crises and conducting suicide and risk assessments when necessary.
How I Can Help Your Child:
I am here to support your child in a variety of ways. Whether your child is dealing with social struggles, academic challenges, or emotional issues, I will work with them to find solutions. My approach is student-centered, meaning I always focus on your child’s unique needs and strengths.
If your child is having difficulty with:
- Anxiety, depression, or stress
- Social relationships and peer conflicts
- Academic struggles or learning disabilities
- Behavior challenges or emotional regulation
- Coping with grief or trauma
I can provide counseling and support, as well as collaborate with teachers and parents to create strategies to help your child succeed.
Collaborating with Families:
I believe in the power of collaboration between home and school. Together, we can create the best plan to support your child’s growth. I am always available to meet with parents, answer questions, and discuss any concerns you may have. You can contact me directly via email at bschreib@millerplace.k12.ny.us
A Holistic Approach:
In addition to traditional psychological support, I also integrate mindfulness and yoga techniques into my work with students. These practices have been shown to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and enhance emotional regulation. I believe in empowering students with tools they can use both in and outside of the classroom to feel more confident and in control.
Community Involvement:
I am also involved in several community-based initiatives, including leading yoga for students with physical and cognitive disabilities at the NY Cornerstone Foundation, supporting adolescents with anxiety and depression at the Positive Psychology Clinic and working with the Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of different learning and developmental needs, and I am excited to bring that knowledge to my work in the school.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I look forward to working together to ensure that your child feels supported, understood, and empowered to reach their full potential!
Sincerely,
Brittany Schreiber,
Certified School Psychologist
